For Novice Riders

 

WHEN DO WE RIDE?

Rides begin on Monday May 15th at 6pm and run for twelve weeks

COME JOIN US

 

  • B.I.G. Monday night training rides are designed with the casual rider in mind who might be inexperienced and perhaps even fearful of riding on the roads.
  • Our Guides will take small groups for rides, which will match the abilities of the riders in that group
  • Guides will explain the principals of safety, cycling and training dynamics
  • Individuals who regularly attend, with the desire to complete our BIG 30KM route, will feel ready at the end of twelve weeks and be pleasantly surprised with the freedom and pleasure of accomplishment 
  • Cost is $60.00

 

All participants receive the following:

  • OCA insurance coverage for participation in the training rides*
  • Custom Tee shirt
  • 15% parts discount at Blackwell Cycle
  • 10% new bikes discount at Blackwell Cycle
  • One week free trial membership at Ironworks Gym
  • 12 weekly guided training rides

MONDAY PACE GROUPS

CAMOMILE

For those who would like to ride easy but want to experience riding in small groups with likeminded people while increasing fitness and biking skills. Distance 10-30 KM. Pace – 14-16 KM/HR

 

GINGER

You have had some experience of group rides but would like more group saddle time while riding at a moderate pace. Distance 15-30 KM. Pace 16-22 KM/HR

 

OOLONG

The group will follow the same routes as the Ginger group but at a faster and more consistent pace. Distance 18-30 KM. Pace 18-24 KM/HR

Wednesday Night

To Improve Group Riding Experience

Rides begin on Wednesday May 17th at 6pm and run for twelve weeks

COME JOIN US

 

  • B.I.G. Wednesday night training rides are designed for riders with some group riding experience confident in maintaining a 20+km/hr pace
  • Our Guides will take small groups for rides, which will match the abilities of the riders in that group
  • Depending on the level of a group, guides may explain higher level group riding concepts like how to create an echelon
  • Individuals who regularly attend, with the desire to compete in our BIG 50KM route, will feel confident in their group riding ability and be ready at the end of twelve weeks
  • Cost is $60.00

WEDNESDAY PACE GROUPS

LATTE

For those who would like to ride easy but want to experience riding in small groups with likeminded people while increasing fitness and biking skills. Distance 20+ KM. Pace – 20-25 KM/HR

 

CAPPUCCINO

You have had some experience of group rides but would like more group saddle time while riding at a moderate pace. Distance 20+ KM. Pace 22-27 KM/HR

 

MOCHA

The Mocha group will follow the same routes as the Cappuccino group but at a faster and more consistent pace. Distance 20+ KM. Pace 24-29 KM/HR

 

AMERICANO

This is the group for you if you are comfortable with group riding and have a good level of fitness but want to improve your cycling skills. Distance 30+ KM. Pace 26- 30 KM/HR

 

ESPRESSO

We ride consistently and will sometimes share the workload at the front… ideal for riders that want to try a faster pace and drafting while knowing that there is a “no drop” policy. Distance 30+ KM. Pace 28-33 KM/HR
